My heart is in Gaza, it will stay in Gaza

Emily Callahan, an American nurse who had been in Gaza as part of Doctors Without Borders (MSF), provides insight into the conditions in southern Gaza prior to her recent crossing through Rafah into Egypt.

She relocated to Khan Younis, where she found shelter among 35,000 internally displaced individuals within a single complex.

She recounted to CNN the sight of children bearing extensive burns across their faces, necks, and limbs.

Callahan emphasizes that the availability of food and water was alarmingly scarce, forcing MSF staff to meticulously monitor calorie intake towards the end. Had it not been for her local staff, she claims that either starvation or dehydration would have been inevitable for us. She adds that there were only four toilets available for the tens of thousands of Gazans.

Callahan expressed that her personal safety was jeopardized when enraged locals falsely accused her and her local staff of being Israelis or traitors.
