In his first stop among three Gulf countries, President Donald Trump and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman signed a strategic economic partnership agreement. Saudi investments in the United States may exceed $1 trillion, and UAE investments more than $1 trillion and $400 billion. The White House explained the most prominent deals signed with Saudi Arabia as follows:
A record $142 billion defense deal that includes advanced U.S. equipment and extensive training for Saudi forces.
- $20 billion Saudi investment from Data Volt in AI and energy infrastructure data centers within the United States.
- $80 billion in joint technology investments from major companies such as Google, Oracle, Uber, and AMD in the two countries.
- Major Saudi infrastructure projects implemented by US companies such as AECOM and Parsons, worth $2 billion.
- US exports include GE Vernova gas turbines worth $14.2 billion and Boeing 737-8 planes worth $4.8 billion.
- $5.8 billion health investment from Shamekh IV Solutions, including a plant in Michigan.
- Launching 3 investment funds with a total value of $14 billion focused on energy, defense, and sports within the United States.
These investments constitute a message in favor of Trump that the United States attracts foreign funds, even if it raises tariff rates on most countries. During this visit, the Gulf generosity goes beyond the atmosphere of “One Thousand and One Nights” and more than its plan is the books of Orientalism.
Donald Trump stuck to the White House’s plan to receive a luxury jumbo jet from Qatar to be used as a U.S. presidential jet. “They’re giving us a gift,” Trump told reporters at the White House, adding that he would be “dumb” if he didn’t accept it. A Qatari spokesman said it was “inaccurate” to describe the plane as a gift. He added that the transfer of an aircraft for temporary use is under discussion between the two countries.
