Author of big performances with the Parisian club, the Moroccan international can become the first African player to win the Ballon d ‘Or in thirty years.
Ashraf Hakimi is among the favorites for the Ballon d ‘Or, as his teammate Ousmane Dembélé.
Achraf Hakimi is simply tireless. Author of 62 matches this season, the Moroccan international has been running on his right side for more than a year now, having taken Morocco to the bronze medal at the Olympics in Paris last summer.
Excellent from the beginning to the end of the season, Hakimi, now 26, has the complete panoply of the perfect lateral: top speed, ability to repeat races forwards and backwards, address in passes and centers.
An array complemented by exceptional physical fitness. “It’s something God gave me, this power in cardio, for prolonged efforts,” he explained in early May. “I have a personal trainer and nutritionist, the coach has also managed my playing time well so that I always arrive in shape.”
On his right side, Hakimi is often the player who allows Paris Saint-Germain to unblock the situation, whether by making his teammates shine, or by taking care of the sentence himself. Result: the Moroccan side has 11 goals and 16 assists this season.
How far can they take this?
Despite these impressive statistics, Hakimi does not seem to have reached his limits yet. His coach Luis Enrique himself admits to having “never seen a better right-back than him, with huge potential” and still margin.
Thanks to an exceptional season, punctuated by many titles – including the Champions League – Achraf Hakimi is now a serious contender for the Ballon d ‘Or, just like his teammate Ousmane Dembélé.
The Moroccan international now has the opportunity to make history by becoming the first full-back to win the supreme individual award – and to become the first player from the African continent to lift the prestigious trophy since George Weah in 1995.
